Cellar Practices

Grapes were gently crushed and pressed. Wine was cold fermented in tank to allow freshness and fruit, but kept on the lees for 11 months to give a creamy mouth feel. 25% of barrel-fermented wine was blended with the tank fermented portion (75%) to add the wooded dimension.

Tasting Notes

Stone-fruit aromas dominate the nose with hints of citrus, quince and pine nut. Rich and creamy palate is well balanced, perked up by lively acidity and a long finish. The subtle use of oak uplifts the pure fruity characters.

Cellar Practices

Grapes were gently crushed and pressed. 20% of the wine was cold fermented in tank to retain freshness and fruit, and 80% was fermented in French and Hungarian 300 litre barrels. 30% was fermented with natural yeast. The wine was then aged for 11 months, blended and then bottled.

Reserve Chenin Blanc 2014

Cellar Practices

Grapes were gently crushed and pressed. Fermented in 50% new, 30% 2nd fill and 20% 3rd fill French and Hungarian 300 litre oak barrels. 100% of the wine was naturally fermented. A maturation period of 14 months was required before the wine was racked, blended and bottled.

Golden hued colour. Attractive complex nose with aromas of ripe melon and grapefruit, with honey undertones. The wood spices compliments the pure fruit bringing structure to this fine wine. A well-balanced palate with an exotic sweet-sour tang ensures a long finish and lasting aftertaste.

Cellar Practices

A 48 hour cold maceration was given prior to fermentation to extract colour and fruit. Extraction during fermentation took place by pumping the juice over the skins 3 times per day. Skins were gently pressed before fermented dry. MLF took place in barrels. The wine was then matured for 18 months in 20% 2nd fill, 60% 3rd fill and 20% 4th fill French oak barrels.

Rich and intense deep red colour. Complex and vibrant nose of red berries, ripe cherry and plum backed by pure Rijks Pinotage fruit. These delicious fruity aromas carry through onto a rich creamy palate with superb concentration of tannins and well intergrated oak with subtlewood spices complimenting the fruit.

Skins were gently pressed before fermented dry. MLF took place in barrels. The Pinotage matured for 22 months in 60% French and 40% American 300 lt oak barrels, and the Syrah for 22 months in 100% French oak barrels. Bottled and laid to rest and aged till released.

Tasting Notes

Rich and intense red colour. This blend really gets together. Both cultivars compliment each other beautifully, where the Pinotage lends the rich red fruit spectrum and drinkability, the Syrah adds structure and spice. Complex nose of white chocolate and Turkish delight. The mid palate is creamy and finishes with well rounded mature tannins. Well-integrated oak lends subtle wood spices complimenting the fruit.

Pinotage 888 Gold 2011

Cellar Practices

A 48-hour cold maceration period was given prior to fermentation to extract colour  and fruit. Extraction during fermentation took place by doing manual punch downs 3 times per day at a fermentation temperature of 28°C. Skins were gently pressed before fermented dry. MLF took place in barrels, after which it was matured for 22 months in 67% new and 33% 2nd fill French oak barrels. Wine from the 3 most complex and superlative barrels were selected to produce this rare and exceptional Pinotage.
