Cellar Practices

A 48 hour cold maceration was given prior to fermentation to extract colour and fruit. During fermentation punch downs were done 3 times a day. Skins were gently pressed before fermented dry. MLF took place in barrels. Matured for 22 months in 60% French and 40% American 300 litre barrels - 45% new, 35% 2nd fill and 20% 3rd fill for maturing and ageing.

Soil  low yielding well drained vertical schale / schist  Aspect  west, north-west and east

Trellis and bush vines.

Tasting Notes

Rich and intense deep red colour. Vibrant nose of red fruit, brambleberry, ripe cherry and cranberry.  These delicoius fruity aromas carry through onto a rich, creamy palate with well balanced refined tannins on the finish. The well integrated oak lends lends subtle wood spices which compliments the fruit.


100% Pinotage


Grapes were night harvested, picked by hand to retain flavours. Yield 5.7 tons / ha

At least 15 or more years after vintage

Recommended to be served at 17ÂșC
